the world of Workplace Giving
These two strong threads in the American character intersect in charitable fundraising drives at workplaces throughout the United States. Through annual campaigns, hard-working people of ordinary means express their generosity. The payroll deduction, which characterizes most of workplace giving, allows even people with modest resources to become philanthropists. Payroll philanthropists are stunningly generous, and people who earn less typically give proportionately more. This site is sponsored by the Workplace Giving Alliance, a consortium of federations participating in workplace campaigns in the public sector. Foremost is the Combined Federal Campaign, the largest workplace fund drive in the world. Our Alliance supports connections between payroll philanthropists and their causes by providing core administrative services for not-for-profit organizations that participate in the CFC and other public-sector campaigns. The Workplace Giving Alliance believes that the best way to honor the generosity of payroll philanthropists is to champion their intentions. To that end, we have launched the Payroll Philanthropy Initiative, to foster efficiency and transparency in workplace campaign operations, so that every possible dollar reaches a designated charity. The Payroll Philanthropy Initiative has two goals:
